Unrated insurer - Are they worth the risk?

Published date: 22 May 2017

Risks on construction projects can be significant, making insurance a vital component of any business; with this in mind, would you be willing to take the risk with an unrated insurer?

The reality is that there is no legal requirement in place for an insurer to have a rating – and it’s also not a necessity for a broker to work only with a rated carrier. That is why when deciding on a warranty provider perhaps it shouldn’t always rely on price – the customer experience, knowledge and thorough service of the provider can be priceless and improve the quality of the build greatly which is something unrated insurers do not offer.

At FMB Insurance our focus is on reducing risk which is why every plan is individually assessed by our expert in-house surveyors. We take our professional obligation and duty of care very seriously and will only use ‘A’ rated insurers such as Lloyds of London; providing you and your client’s peace of mind that if any future claim was made the insurer would be able to resolve the problem.
